SUI 470 M Olympic Coach 2016
Born in February 15th 1988, raised in Buenos Aires (ARG), Peri started his sailing career at the age of 7 in the Optimist Class. He qualified to three World Championships and four South Americans, winning a bronze medal at the 2003 Worlds and a Silver Medal at the 2003 South Americans. In addition, he was crowned three times Optimist Team Racing World Champion in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
When he turned 16, he moved to the 420 International Class in which he won Gold at the ISAF Youth World Championship in 2006 together with Santiago Masseroni.
Later on, he continued his sailing journey in the 470 Olympic Class. After campaigning for three years and finishing 5th and 7th at the Junior Europeans and Worlds in 2009, he moved to the 49er. At the same time he started to discover his passion for coaching, running clinics and coaches seminars for youth classes, mainly in Europe.
He campaigned on the 49er for two years and then finally decided to take coaching as a full time activity, combined with some Soto 33, Melges 32 and other keelboat racing.
On the coaching side, after many informal clinics here and there finally in 2010 with only 21 years old he was selected as a national coach for international events. During the last 10 years he coached several national teams at world, continental and national championships obtaining great results.
His Olympic dream came true in 2016 when he joined the Swiss Sailing Team to lead the 470 SUI M pair of Yannick Brauchli and Romuald Hausser to the Games in Rio. During this year they achieved a 6th at the European Championship, an 8th at the Weymouth and Portland Sailing World Cup Event and finally a 9th at the Olympic Games, winning the Medal Race.
On the academic side, Peri is has a Cum-Laude degree on Business Administration at the University of Buenos Aires, with a semester as an international student in the University of New Orleans, USA.
